Can we have two versions of the same game running simultaneously?

Unfortunately, no.

Your game is tied to your device and is only meant to be played on one device at a time.

Is there any way to get around this? 

Technically, you can jump between different devices with the same game. HOWEVER - we do NOT recommend this. Data can get lost in our servers, and you might lost items/progress you made on one device.
